A systematic review involving 14,555 participants reveals that side-to-side anastomosis (SSA) is more effective than end-to-side anastomosis (ESA) in reducing postoperative anastomotic bleeding during laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for cancer patients. No significant differences were found in overall anastomotic complications, though SSA was advantageous in minimizing bleeding. Conversely, ESA showed potential benefits for reducing anastomotic leakage and intestinal obstruction, albeit without statistical significance. Overall, specific advantages exist for both techniques.
