Significant Survival Differences Found in Colon and Rectal Cancer

A comprehensive analysis of 19,607 patients revealed notable overall survival improvements in sigmoid, rectosigmoid, and rectal cancer cases from 2000 to 2020, with a 10% increase in survival rates among stage-2 and stage-3 patients observed between 2016 and 2020. While chemotherapy rates remained consistent across groups, rectal patients received significantly more radiotherapy. Factors such as sex, cancer site, and stage showed independent associations with overall survival, highlighting critical discrepancies in treatment outcomes.
