Postoperative C-reactive protein cut-off predicts complications.

A cut-off value of 114 mg/l for C-reactive protein on postoperative day three successfully predicts major complications in colorectal cancer patients, demonstrating a sensitivity of 80% and specificity of 59%. The study, involving 1,536 patients, found this threshold reliable across diverse subgroups, although specificity varied among certain demographics. Notably, elevated levels of CRP correlate with a significant 5.29-fold increase in the odds of major complications, suggesting its utility in early patient discharge decision-making.
