Unique barriers identified for marginalized HCC patients

Marginalized groups, particularly black patients and those affected by adverse social determinants of health, encounter significant barriers to curative treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Research revealed common challenges, such as information overload and communication gaps, while black patients also faced psychological burdens and systemic distrust. Conversely, patients experiencing adverse social determinants reported financial instability and care coordination difficulties. Solutions suggested by participants included enhanced education, communication strategies, and the establishment of peer support networks to facilitate access to treatment.
