Surgery, IORT, and PVC Improve Survival for HCC Patients

A novel triple therapy combining surgery, intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT), and postoperative PVC significantly enhances survival for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with main portal vein tumor thrombosis (MPVTT). A retrospective study of 56 patients revealed the surgery-IORT-PVC group achieved superior median overall survival (not reached vs. 7 months) and median progression-free survival (not reached vs. 4 months) compared to the TACE-HAIC group. This approach offers a promising treatment option for patients facing limited alternatives.
