A multicenter study involving 2828 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and microvascular invasion revealed that early recurrence (ER) occurs more frequently within the first year after hepatectomy, leading to poorer outcomes than late recurrence (LR). Median overall survival was 20.2 months for ER compared to 52.6 months for LR. Regular postoperative surveillance significantly improved overall survival (37.1 months) and post-recurrence survival (21.2 months) compared to irregular surveillance, emphasizing the need for consistent monitoring.
