Key risk factors for postoperative kidney injury in colorectal patients

Analysis of 23 studies with 167,904 colorectal cancer patients identified key risk factors for postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI). Notably, male sex, older age, and a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m² were linked to increased risk. The systematic review emphasizes the necessity for healthcare professionals to recognize these risk factors in order to implement effective preventive measures against AKI in this vulnerable population.
