Retrograde puncture method for trocar placement proves effective.

A retrospective analysis of 1,388 patients undergoing laparoscopic total extraperitoneal repair for groin hernias demonstrated that the retrograde puncture method for trocar placement is both feasible and safe. All surgeries were successful without conversion to open procedures. Notably, the average time for unilateral trocar placement was 6.36 minutes, and no patients experienced recurrence or severe complications during the median follow-up of 66 months. Some minor adverse events were recorded, but they were manageable.
