Recent advancements in obesity treatment highlight new pipeline agents that effectively match weight loss results of surgery. Notably, GLP-1 analogs not only reduce weight but also improve obesity-related health issues. However, significant gaps remain, with alternative treatment options needed to address muscle mass loss and energy expenditure decline. Developing novel therapies, including myostatin inhibitors and combination treatments with glucagon agonists, aims to create more sustainable and tolerable obesity solutions while addressing severe comorbidities.
