Soluble TREM2 predicts liver dysfunction after surgery.

Soluble TREM2 (strem2) levels in plasma effectively reflect liver fibrosis status and predict postoperative liver dysfunction in patients undergoing liver resection. In a cohort of 108 patients assessed before surgery and on postoperative days one and five, strem2 demonstrated sensitivity for early, asymptomatic chronic liver disease. Notably, even patients without end-stage liver disease showed distinct strem2 levels based on fibrosis, enhancing early detection and potentially improving postoperative outcomes.
