Elevated levels of EMP and STM predict severe pancreatitis outcomes

Dynamic changes in plasma endothelial microparticles (EMP) and soluble thrombomodulin (STM) levels significantly correlate with prognosis in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). In a study of 128 SAP patients, higher EMP and STM levels were linked to increased mortality rates. Combined detection had a notable sensitivity of 92.39% and specificity of 90.54%, demonstrating superior prognostic accuracy over individual assessments. These findings underscore the importance of monitoring EMP and STM for predicting outcomes in SAP patients.
