Standardized framework established for reporting colorectal anastomotic leaks

An international consensus has developed the CoReAL Reporting Framework for standardizing the reporting of colorectal anastomotic leaks. This framework includes 33 evidence-based statements and 43 key reporting elements derived from extensive literature review and expert consensus. Focused on addressing variability in published leak rates, it incorporates patient experiences and expert opinions, aiming to enhance management and outcomes associated with surgical complications in colorectal cancer patients.
