Analysis of trauma patients indicated that whole blood (WB) transfusion is linked to fewer complications compared to balanced component therapy (BCT). The study found shorter ICU stays and significantly lower rates of acute kidney injury, respiratory distress syndrome, cardiac arrest, deep vein thrombosis, and other complications in the WB group. However, there was no significant difference in in-hospital mortality between the two transfusion methods. Further research is necessary to explore the underlying mechanisms for these findings.
