In a comparative study of colon adenomas and early-stage cancers, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) significantly outperformed traditional surgery. Among 568 EMR patients and 2,054 surgical patients, EMR was associated with a lower all-cause mortality rate (hazard ratio 0.31) and reduced healthcare utilization over an average follow-up of 4.5 years. These findings suggest EMR is a favorable treatment option for eligible lesions in community-based settings.
