Key genes linked to colorectal cancer stemness identified

A recent study identified ten key genes associated with colorectal cancer (CRC) stemness, revealing their correlation with disease-free and progression-free survival. Using a machine learning model, researchers found that higher mRNA expression-based stemness indexes (mrnasi) correlated with improved clinical outcomes. Notably, CRC samples with lower mrnasi exhibited worse survival rates. This research highlights the potential for small-molecule compounds to target these genes and suggests new therapeutic avenues for improving CRC treatment outcomes.
