The study establishes that cumulative post-esophagectomy C-reactive protein (CRP) levels significantly predict cancer recurrence and survival outcomes in patients. Among 125 subjects, those with lower CRP levels on day 7 demonstrated notably improved recurrence-free and overall survival rates compared to those with elevated levels. The research identified specific CRP cut-off values, highlighting the importance of early postoperative inflammation assessment as a prognostic tool for managing esophageal cancer.
