Nomogram effectively predicts postoperative pneumonia post-esophageal ESD

A novel nomogram has been developed to predict postoperative pneumonia risk after esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). In a cohort of 492 patients, the incidence of pneumonia was 18.6%. Key predictive factors included female sex, older age, low serum albumin levels, prolonged operative duration, muscular layer damage, and comorbid pulmonary diseases. The nomogram exhibited robust predictive capabilities, validated with an area under the curve of 0.76 and 0.89 for internal and external validation cohorts, respectively.
