No Reduction in Surgical Site Infection with Dual Antibiotic Irrigation in Ventral Hernia Repair: RINSE Trial Findings

In a randomized trial for ventral hernia repair, dual antibiotic irrigation (gentamicin + clindamycin) did not significantly reduce surgical site infection (SSI) rates compared to saline irrigation. No differences were observed in secondary outcomes, suggesting that this antibiotic approach may not offer additional benefits in preventing SSIs in this context.
