Impact of Laparoscopic HIPEC on Safety and Perioperative Outcomes in Gastric Cancer with Peritoneal Metastasis

Laparoscopic HIPEC for gastric cancer with peritoneal metastasis is safe and associated with minimal perioperative complications. Approximately one third of patients undergoing initial laparoscopic HIPEC proceeded to cytoreduction and gastrectomy. Preliminary survival data from this study indicate a median overall survival of 11 months from the initial procedure and 19.3 months from the diagnosis, suggesting that laparoscopic HIPEC may offer benefits in treating patients with gastric cancer and peritoneal metastasis.
