Pathologic Factors Associated with Postoperative Venous Thromboembolism Risk after Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery

Pathologic factors, including T, N, and M stages, were found to be associated with a higher risk of 30-day postoperative venous thromboembolism after gastrointestinal cancer surgery. Specifically, T stage was associated with VTE in colorectal, pancreatic, and primary hepatic cancers, while N stage was linked to VTE in colorectal and pancreatic cancers. Acknowledging these associations is crucial for tailoring a more personalized approach to chemoprophylaxis.
