Prior studies found low skeletal muscle mass on CT scans linked to postoperative complications. This retrospective study analyzed body composition from CT scans to predict frailty and adverse outcomes after abdominal surgery. Results showed that higher muscle quantity and quality scores correlated with reduced risk of readmission, mortality, and morbidity, suggesting CT analysis offers an objective measure of patient frailty.
