Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Improves Survival in Gastric Cancer Patients

Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) significantly improved overall survival and reduced recurrence rates in both prophylactic and therapeutic settings for peritoneal carcinomatosis of gastric origin. This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials highlights the efficacy of HIPEC as a safe and effective tool for prophylaxis and a promising resource for treatment, emphasizing the need for further large-cohort studies to provide definitive recommendations.
