Surgery improves quality of life in patients with recurrent diverticulitis

This systematic review and meta-analysis suggest that surgery for recurrent diverticulitis may enhance long-term quality of life compared to conservative treatment. Although associated with risks, surgical intervention resulted in higher SF-36 and GIQLI scores and fewer recurrences. These findings advocate for considering surgery in patients with ongoing or recurrent diverticulitis to potentially alleviate symptoms and enhance overall well-being.
