Colorectal surgeons developed a nomogram model to predict technical challenges in performing laparoscopic sphincter-preserving radical resection for rectal cancer. Parameters such as surgical approach, intraoperative preventive ostomy, sacrococcygeal distance, and pelvic inlet diameter were identified as independent risk factors for operative difficulty. Understanding these predictive factors could aid clinicians in anticipating surgical challenges and optimizing patient outcomes during laparoscopic procedures for rectal cancer.
