Quality of Life (QoL) significantly impacts mortality risk in patients with esophageal cancer. A systematic review and meta-analysis found that overall QoL, as well as physical, emotional, role, cognitive, and social QoL, were all associated with mortality risk. Subgroup analyses by timing of QoL assessment and types of treatment further supported these findings. Regular QoL assessments before and after treatment can help predict life expectancy and guide interventions to improve QoL.
