Long-Segment Barrett’s Esophagus Adenocarcinoma Shows Worse Outcomes than Short-Segment

Long-segment BEA patients exhibit distinct clinicopathological features and worse treatment outcomes compared to short-segment BEA patients. Long-segment cases are associated with specific characteristics such as flat type morphology, left wall location, and higher rates of synchronous lesions. Additionally, long-segment BEA requires longer resection durations, has lower rates of submucosal invasion, negative margins, and complete resections, as well as a significantly higher risk of post-procedural stenosis and metachronous cancer development compared to short-segment cases.
