Improved Recurrence Prevention with Anatomical Liver Resection for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Anatomical liver resection (AR) significantly reduces local and early recurrence rates compared to nonanatomical liver resection (NR) in patients with solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ≤5cm. AR group exhibited lower recurrence rates, improved overall survival, and fewer instances of early recurrence. NR was identified as an independent risk factor for early recurrence and a prognostic factor for local recurrence. AR proves superior in preventing local and early recurrence post-surgery for solitary HCC ≤5cm.
