Recycling over 30% of general surgery operating room waste could lead to a 6% reduction in carbon footprint and 3% cost savings annually. Implementing recycling policies and promoting waste segregation could significantly impact both the environment and finances of surgical facilities. Surgeons play a key role in creating a “green culture” to improve sustainability in operating rooms.
