Cancer Surgery Research Needs Global Action

Cancer surgery research is harder to run in low-resource settings, and a second Lancet Oncology Commission lays out how to change that.

  • Cancer surgery research is needed to find better treatments, raise survival, and improve care.
  • The commission proposes solutions matched to each setting’s resources, building skills, institutions, and health systems.
  • The goal is a research base that eventually improves outcomes for patients and populations.

This is a set of recommendations, not a study with patient results, so it shows the problem and the plan, not proof that any treatment works.
