Findings indicate that older age at diagnosis of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) correlates with a heightened long-term risk of pancreatic carcinoma. In a cohort of 3,142 IPMN patients, those aged 55-64, 65-74, and ≥75 exhibited adjusted subdistribution hazard ratios of 1.80, 2.56, and 3.31 respectively, compared to those under 55. These results suggest that elderly patients with IPMNs are prime candidates for enhanced surveillance to potentially reduce pancreatic cancer mortality.
