Endoscopic full-thickness resection proves effective for tumors

A study analyzing 232 patients undergoing endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) demonstrates its feasibility, safety, and effectiveness for treating upper gastrointestinal submucosal tumors, including predominantly extraluminal lesions. The procedure achieved an en-bloc resection rate of 98.7%, with a negligible recurrence observed over a mean follow-up of 3.7 years. Notably, complications occurred in 9.1% of cases, with higher postoperative fever rates in extraluminal tumor patients. These findings warrant further prospective studies to validate results.
