Anti-reflux surgery effectively alleviates gastroesophageal-related cough symptoms.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 59 studies involving 7,431 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) revealed that anti-reflux surgery significantly improves gastroesophageal-related cough, with an 80% remission rate. Additionally, heartburn and regurgitation remission rates were 87.7% and 91.2%, respectively. These findings underscore the efficacy of surgical interventions for managing common reflux symptoms, suggesting that anti-reflux procedures should be considered a viable treatment option for patients suffering from GERD.
