Robotic surgery reduces ejaculatory dysfunction after rectal cancer procedures

Post-operative assessments revealed that 34.7% of patients experienced erectile dysfunction (ED) and 29.8% faced ejaculatory dysfunction (EJD) a year after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgeries. Notably, patients undergoing robotic surgery reported a significantly lower EJD rate of 25.0% compared to 40.9% for laparoscopic surgery, with less potency impairment at 6 and 12 months. These findings underline the importance of comprehensive sexual function assessments for improving patient quality of life post-surgery.
