Analysis of 6,400 esophageal adenocarcinoma patients revealed that 51% experienced tumor downstaging after neoadjuvant chemoradiation, with complete downstaging noted in 5%. Downstaging correlated with a 31% and 17% reduced risk of death compared to disease progression and stable staging, respectively. Additionally, robotic-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy reduced mortality risk by 17% compared to open surgery, while minimally invasive surgery showed a 10% decrease. These findings underscore the impact of therapeutic approaches on survival outcomes.
