Composite performance score reduces costs in robotic surgery

Implementation of the Orlando Score in robotic-assisted surgery led to a significant 7.5% cost reduction per procedure among participating surgeons. In contrast, the control group saw increased costs without any differences in operative time, length of stay, or readmission rates. The study emphasizes the effectiveness of the composite performance score in facilitating cost-efficient resource management and active surgeon involvement in cost-reduction strategies, all while maintaining the quality of care.
