Predictive Models Enhance Diabetes Remission After Surgery

A new calculator predicts type 2 diabetes remission outcomes for patients post-metabolic surgery, improving patient selection.

  • 44.7% of patients achieved remission after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in the first cohort, with a predictive accuracy (AUC) of 0.80.
  • 52.6% remission was noted in the second cohort, with an AUC of 0.78, and weight loss improved prediction accuracy (AUC 0.82 in the first cohort).

Use this tool to personalize decisions and optimize surgical success rates.

  • An online calculator is available through the Mayo Clinic for easy access to these predictive models.
