Pancreatic ductoscopy guides tissue preservation

In two older patients having robotic surgery for a pancreatic growth, ductoscopy and checks of the cut edge let surgeons leave the remaining pancreas in place.

  • Both patients were in their 70s; ductoscopy found no suspicious areas in the remaining pancreatic duct.
  • Final pathology showed high-grade dysplasia but no invasive cancer in either patient.

This two-patient report shows the approach is feasible, not that it improves outcomes or suits every patient.
