Factors such as information-sharing practices, planning, and strong leadership support were associated with successful implementation of enhanced recovery pathways in hospitals. However, barriers such as pathway complexity and infrastructure posed challenges. Clinicians’ positive beliefs and knowledge about pathways were key to achieving greater adherence to process measures over time.
