Rule-based guidelines derived from in-hospital opioid consumption were compared to traditional methods for postoperative prescribing. Results show that rule-based guidelines tailored to individual patient needs outperformed fixed quantity approaches, leading to more accurate opioid prescribing. This study highlights the efficacy of personalized opioid prescribing based on in-hospital consumption, offering a simple yet effective method to prevent overprescribing and improve patient outcomes.
