Shock Index (SI) is a critical indicator of outcomes in trauma patients. A study comparing SI values in different age groups reveals that geriatric patients have higher SI and mortality rates. Each 0.1 increase in SI is associated with increased mortality, need for blood transfusion, and major surgical interventions, with stronger predictive power in geriatrics. These findings emphasize the importance of SI in identifying outcomes in severe trauma cases, especially in older individuals.
