Postoperative pancreatic fistulas are a significant issue following partial pancreatectomy. A meta-analysis of 18 randomized clinical trials involving 2326 patients revealed that both artificial and autologous coverage techniques reduced the incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistulas by 29%. Specifically, autologous coverage was even more effective for patients undergoing distal pancreatectomy. This study highlights the positive impact of coverage methods in reducing complications and improving outcomes after partial pancreatectomy.
