New predictive models enhance diabetes remission assessment

A novel Diabetes Remission Index (DRI) and Weight Loss-Adjusted Diabetes Remission Index (W-DRI) were developed to predict remission rates for type 2 diabetes following metabolic and bariatric surgery. In internal validation, the DRI model achieved an AUC of 0.80 with a 44.7% remission rate, while the W-DRI improved accuracy to 0.82. External validation confirmed similar results. This innovation offers personalized predictions, enhancing decision-making in diabetes care.
